On December of 1985, Reno Diagnostic Centers began operation. This date was significant because, by opening our doors, we also opened the doors to a higher standard of medical imaging technology by introducing the first high-field MRI scanner to Nevada. Since that time, there have been other firsts that we are extremely proud of:
Being first is a wonderful thing. However, there is a great responsibility that goes along with being first. At Reno Diagnostic Centers, we dont take that responsibility lightly. We wont introduce a new imaging technology to the area without ensuring that the technology is sound and that it also provides a significant benefit to you.
It is our ongoing mission to set the benchmark in medical imaging in Northern Nevada.
That is the reason for our Quality Assurance Program. This cross-training program focuses on staff education. In medical imaging, education is paramount. Rest assured, our staff is highly trained and they are continually being updated on the latest procedures. However, our Quality Assurance Program takes this training a step further. Its focus is cross training. Radiologists train technologists. Technologists train clerical and scheduling personnel. And our entire staff trains referring office staffs about our procedures and support services.
For you, this means you always receive the best technology and the best care available.
Introduced the first and only Open MRI scanner to Northern Nevada. Open MRI is more convenient for our claustrophobic and larger-build patients.
Introduced the first dedicated Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging system to Northern Nevada. PET is critical in the area of cancer diagnosis.
Introduced the first digital mammography system to Northern Nevada. Digital Mammography offers women another option to conventional mammography.
Introduced HealthCheck a comprehensive elective exam that determines risk for heart disease, strokes, cancer and/or aneurysm.
Implemented comprehensive Virtual Colonoscopy (VC) exams. VC offers a quicker exam, easier prep, and it’s as sensitive in the detection of colon cancer as traditional colonoscopy.
Introduced the first Digital Mammography with CAD (Computer Aided Diagnosis) to the Reno/Sparks area. RDC offers Digital Mammography with CAD at both Centers for appointment scheduling convenience.
Implemented a new Open MRI scanner. This new Hitatchi scanner has such improved image quality that it allows us the ability to now scan anatomy usually reserved for 1.5T magnet systems, such as high-resolution MR angiography, pituitary, IAC’s and small joint MRIs, all within nearly half the time of our previous Open scans.
Introduced the first 3T MRI to Northern Nevada. The great appeal of 3T MRI is improvement in image quality and resolution, while providing faster scan times as that of a 1.5 magnet. The 3T MRI enables radiologists to improve the diagnosis of a wide range of conditions including cardiac and vascular disease; stroke; abdominal and brain disorders; and musculoskeletal conditions in the knee, shoulder and other joints.
Introduced the region's first PET Fusion. The ability to fuse (merge) Prior or Future CT or MRI scans from ANY location for the sharpest image quality to detect cancers. Improved patient comfort with ONE stick, less radiation, and less expensive and more accurate than CT/PET.
Implemented Comprehensive Body Fat Analysis Testing. This quick, easy, non-invasive and PAINLESS exam is performed in a comfortable, private and confidential setting. It is the most accurate form of Body Fat Percentage Testing Available and provides:
Implemented a new 64-Slice GE Spiral CT. This new technology's speed and precision allows us to perform Coronary CT Angiograms. A minimally invasive procedure, designed to view both the calcified and non-calcified plaque in your coronary arteries. This study provides an accurate alternative to Traditional Coronary Angiography without the invasiveness and risk.

MRI Mammography (MRM), also referred to as Breast MRI, is ideal for patients with suspected breast pathology or at high risk of breast cancer. Performed exclusively on our 3T MRI scanner, MRM shows the extent of breast cancer disease for better surgical and treatment planning. MRM is also better able to detect breast cancer in women who are at high risk of developing breast cancer.
